Rethinking UX: Turning Offlyn's App into an Accessible and Flexible Platform
Offlyn’s MVP app needed a usability overhaul. I led a full redesign to fix broken flows, improve accessibility, and bring consistency to the visual system, while aligning the experience more closely with the brand’s goals and users’ needs.

Overview
Offlyn is a platform that helps people discover and attend curated offline experiences from workshops and community events to unique social gatherings. The product initially launched as a fast MVP to test market interest, but as user needs grew, the company aimed to refine the experience. I joined as a design consultant to lead a complete revamp of the app.
My role was to overhaul the existing user experience, bring visual consistency, and make the app more usable, accessible, and aligned with the company's vision.

Outcome
The result was a redesigned, on-brand app with clearer flows, improved accessibility, and a user experience that better reflects Offlyn's purpose and audience. The designs are currently in the development phase and are set to be rolled out in upcoming versions. Though still in progress, the project already reflects significant improvements in usability and aesthetic consistency.

Problem
The initial version of the Offlyn's app had several usability and design issues.
Broken user flows: Many flows didn’t lead to meaningful end points or had no clear return paths, causing user confusion and drop-offs.
Visual inconsistency: Typography, layout, and color usage varied across screens, leading to a disjointed experience.
Low readability & accessibility: Font choices and contrast ratios made the app hard to read, especially on certain devices.
These issues not only impacted user trust but also made core actions like sign-up and discovery harder than they needed to be.
Status Quo
Before the redesign, the app had clearly been optimized for speed rather than user experience. It lacked proper flow continuity, had visual discrepancies between screens, and did not feel cohesive. There was minimal structure in how users discovered events, and the interface did not support intuitive navigation or exploration.

Design Process
Since the product already existed, I began by mapping the current flows and identifying pain points directly from the app. I sketched out revised user flows on a whiteboard, iterating on them to ensure all journeys had logical paths and fallback routes. Once the flows were finalized and approved, I moved on to high-fidelity designs.
Wireframing played a crucial role in aligning structure before jumping into UI, it helped visualize changes early. Although there was no formal user research phase, I collaborated with the founding team of Offlyn, who provided useful feedback throughout the process.

Solution
The redesign addressed the core usability and visual issues, resulting in:
A cohesive, on-brand UI with consistent typography, layout, and color usage
Redesigned user flows that offer logical navigation paths and reduce user friction
Improved accessibility through better contrast, readable fonts, and more intuitive interactions
Enhanced discovery experience that gives users more freedom and flexibility in how they browse events
Overall, the solution made the app feel cleaner, more reliable, and easier to use, both for new users and existing ones.

Impact
Since the redesigned app is still under development, quantitative results are yet to be captured. However, early feedback from the internal team has been positive, especially around the clarity of user flows, visual consistency, and the improved navigation experience. The redesign has also laid a stronger foundation for future iterations and new features, with better structure and scalability baked into the design.

Learnings
This project reinforced the idea that even a product with a rough starting point can be transformed into a well-structured, usable experience with thoughtful design. I learned how to work within constraints, revamping something that already exists requires a different lens than designing from scratch.
It also taught me the value of visual structure and flow logic, especially when redesigning for users who’ve already had frustrating interactions. Most importantly, I saw how good design decisions can create clarity and open up new possibilities for the product’s future.
Takeaways
Starting with an MVP meant working around existing design debt — I learned how to untangle broken flows and rebuild them into something more coherent and user-friendly.
Even without formal user research, aligning closely with the product’s core purpose and brand voice helped guide intuitive UX decisions.
Fixing inconsistencies in layout, typography, and navigation not only improved usability, but also gave the product a stronger, more unified identity.
Designing with flexibility in mind — allowing users to explore, go back, and discover on their own terms — led to a more natural, empowering user experience.
Redesigning the Offlyn app was a valuable opportunity to work with real-world constraints and turn a fragmented experience into something more structured, usable, and brand-aligned. While the work is still in development, this project reinforced my belief that meaningful design improvements don't always require starting over they come from understanding what exists, why it doesn't work, and how to make it better for the people using it. I'm excited to see how the final product performs once it’s live and continues to evolve.
